“Lady Kunst, creates impactful, strong, and authentic visual stories”

My work is a mixture of apathy, courage and desperation. In order better represent the political issues of the society, I had created the fictional figure of Lady Kunst.

Art is identity

Lady Kunst has been known to experiment with the illusion of self-projection and its different variants. She uses the timer trigger of the camera, which is set to 10 seconds. This creates a symbiotic relationship between the camera and the human being, between the observer and the observed. She is able to work in a variety of locations, both indoors and outdoors. She also involves her husband and daughters in her projects. She finds everyday objects that might otherwise go unnoticed and uses them to explore our perception of the world around us. This creative process is the foundation for the final outcome of her work.

Searching for identity in a world full of identities. The passage of time, the evolution of space and the shifting circumstances that surround us all are ever-changing. She creates a symbiosis between the external and the internal, between silence and noise, between oneself and the world.

For Lady Kunst, life is a performance in which we are all protagonists. Themes that run through Lady Kunst’s work include self-image, self-perception, life and death in human transition.

Lady Kunst discusses her inspiration of telling difficult stories that evoke emotions subconsciously. She draws inspiration from their childhood memories of witnessing poverty and the impact it had on them. The artist uses herself as the subject in her images, exploring the abstract sense of personality and the influence individuals can have on their environment. The artist’s work draws influence from various sources, including figurative painting, surrealism, and photography related to social issues. She has cited the works of artists such as David Lynch, Lars von Trier, and Peter Doig, as well as the pop art style, as sources of inspiration, noting the use of vibrant colours and commercial materials in the latter. The artist’s aim, it seems, is to use photography to convey stories that provoke emotions and address social problems.

Jacqueline Delaye has a multidisciplinary background based in social studies and arts. She studied Social Anthropology in Mexico city. Cinema and Tv in Barcelona and Art and Culture Management in Paris. She worked as a video artist and documentary filmmaker around Europe.

After living in different countries like USA, England, France, Spain, Italy Portugal and México Jacqueline moved to Berlin, Germany her home since 15 years.

in 2019 she moved for 4 years to the archipelago Azores, on the island of Sao Miguel, in order to take the inspiration of nature. Now she came back to the great city of Berlin to keep breathing the inspiration of human society.

I started in the art world when I was 19 years old. I had already taken photography courses and I was amazed by the visual and social part of the city where I lived, Mexico City, full of contrasts in both socioeconomic and visual aspects. I wanted to show the world the reality in which the lower class of Mexicans live, a place between hope and death. For this reason I decided to take the camera as my means of expression. I had the opportunity to work in different commercial audiovisual productions (advertising, independent films).

At the age of 21, I went to the city of Barcelona to do my audiovisual studies where I had the opportunity to be inspired by the best independent filmmakers and artistic currents. My work is a mixture of apathy, courage and desperation. In order better represent the political issues of the society, I had created the fictional figure of Lady Kunst.

For me life is a film in which we are all protagonists.

My work focuses on political, social and commercial aspects. As a Mexican, I could not close my eyes to social injustices and corruption, especially in the area of politics.
